small and pleasing...

I am dreaming of spring ... I really think we (the kids and I) might do a garden..not sure..maybe hope is a better word to use..just in case.

I love, love, love ..did I say love, love, love this garden shed? mmHmm. It is so quaint and dreamy ..right?...I would love giggle to have one just like this.

So, my question today is..are you doing a garden and how do you plan for one and what do you plant?

This is our first "hopeful" garden at The Whispering Creek House and I would love oops! any and all advice to begin this little venture. Oh, and it's just gonna be me and the kids on this project..so it has to be easy peasy...small and pleasing..Thanks for stopping by! love ya mean it! Stephanie

I only WISH I could do a garden. Or even a potted plant. ;)

I have a BLACK thumb -- nothing seems to thrive under my care. I do a lot of silk plants. ;)

BUT! I am anxious to see what YOU do!

LOVE that little garden cottage! Now THAT I believe I could do okay with! ;)

That garden shed is wonderful! I wouldn't mind having one myself..hmmm, honey do list. We always have a garden, however I must admit that we get so carried away that it becomes difficult for me to keep up with the weeds. For your first garden, I'd definitely keep it smaller and just plant what you really like. A raised bed is always a great option for smaller gardens and it looks really cute!! Happy Gardening! OMG that is my favorite little building ever!!!!!! Just look at how beautiful it is!!! I have established gardens but always plan with new ideas from photos, books, magazines and from looking through flower/seed catalogs in the Winter. When Spring is here I will have had a plan with drawings and pictures. It makes the Winter go by easier. Gardening is relaxing, great excercise and addicting:) Have fun!!!12 inches of snow tomorrow!

I agree with another commenter, grow what you like, start small. Make sure though that you grow things for your zone. Look around your neighborhood to see what others are growing. Have fun and don't stress. Gardens are never finished, they are a joy, they are great therapy, and once you grow one, you'll never want to do without.

That shed is wonderful.

Hi Stephanie.

I LOVE gardening (especially flowers!) Our victorian farmhouse and gardens are surrounded by commercial flower farms (peonies, glads and dahlias)
My studio looks much like the one you have pictured but larger. It was originally a one room school house!

I would love a garden shed like that...here's hoping to someday. Looking forward to seeing what you are planning, if I ever get time to do something it has to be very easy.

Have a blessed evening.

You are just cute! I'm not a "real" gardener, but I do love to garden. I think my fear of snakes causes hesitation..... Have a wonderful time!

Gardens are wonderful! My thumbs however do not have the "green gene"! But that doesn't stop me. I enlist help from neighbors who have lush gardens, flower and vegetable. Their help is tremendous. Because they dig in the dirt all the time they "know" things that I could not seem to find through gardening magazines and sites! Drive around your area and stop at the houses that have gardens. You will find that those people are more than willing to offer advice/help. Some of my neighbors here are going to give me some of their plantings!! It's such a wonderful way to connect with folks!

My husband does the veggie garden with the boys. I do the flowers and shrubs. Just started last year and am so looking forward to spring!!

Can't wait to read about what you and your children are going to do!

I've come to realize that I'm not the best when it comes to gardening! I do love to look at flower gardens though and to eat the vegetables out of everyone else's vegetable garden. :-) I may plant some tomatoes this year but that's about as adventurous as I'll get.

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. Hope you're having a good weekend.
