polka dots and pumpkin!

Welcome to my daughters birthday party! I have always wanted to do a pumpkin themed party other than the Harvest party I throw every year and this gave me the perfect opportunity to do so...

and with the idea of pumpkins and polka dots rolling around in my head I came up with this..a sunny yellow and cream color scheme that I think is perfect for the northwest. I called on sis Holly to make raspberry filled cupcakes and my most amazing mom in law granted permission to host the party at Sissy's- her fine fabrics and sewing shop. With yeses from them, I ran around gathering supplies to make my sweet teen the happiest birthday girl in all the land.

So lets set the table! This is the kitchen at Sissy's..it has a vintage feel that I really wanted to accentuate in my choice of decor ..I was excited to do this look because it is bold and colorful..don't ya love the table? Because the colors are so bold, I wanted to keep the table relaxed and inviting...

I made this little table cloth..yes, I did..I don't sew..I glue and use wonder under..and it works..

I also made the napkins..I bought a bundle of the cotton hand towels like gram used to use and appliqued the pumpkin shape onto them...

and so the pumpkin theme begins..

and with some dessert plates and a candle holder disguised as a pedestal and painted pumpkins in cream with yellow ribbons..it is looking brighter as the sun goes down..

I found a great way to use these pumpkins as name places...

and by adding my most favorite element... my cupcake domes with yummy cupcakes in yellow and of course polka dots..its time to see it come together..

A view from up above courtesy of my dad in law who was doing handy man chores as I was busy setting up..thanks dad!

Cream soda the perfect color! who knew!!

and with great friends..its a perfect table setting!

Happy Birthday my little pumpkin! I love you dearly.

Oh it's beautiful - and what I look about it is that it is vintage feel, but very now (acceptable to all those youngies!)

Well done!!!

Absolutely gorgeous, Stephanie! I think you need to open your own "throw a party" business. You have such a wonderful way of making folks feel special by all of the thought and time you put into each occasion.
